EMF Internship Eligibility
Students: See below requirements to be sure your internship is eligible. Once you have found an internship that is eligible for EMF Internship credit, complete this form to have the EMF office verify its eligibility. If the internship satisfies all the requirements below, the EMF office will send you and your internship supervisors a DocuSign by email to complete the registration process.
Student Eligibility
EMF Majors with at least 60 credits completed (Junior or
Senior status).
Completion of courses related to the area of internship concentration:
- EMF
221 and EMF 222 prior to any film/video/television placement
- EMF 221
and EMF 265 prior to any audio/radio placement
- Cumulative
GPA requirement: 2.75 overall. Waivers are considered by the department
Organization Eligibility
- Direct
supervision by a supervisor who holds professional credentials in the area
for which the internship is created (e.g., a minimum of 3 years of work
experience in the specified area)
- The
business is not owned or operated by family or friends of the student
Internship Eligibility
- Work
that allows students to extend the skills and knowledge they acquired from
relevant EMF classes
- Work
that allows continued learning and development of new skills appropriate
for students' concentration and major
- Work
that helps students build their portfolio/reel, if possible
- The
Internship should involve regular, face-to-face interactions with the
supervisor(s)
- No
more than 15% of the work hours in purely administrative or clerical work
- Students
are not permitted to earn academic credits for a job they already hold at
an organization without prior departmental approval
