Program Application Data

Education

List every college/university that you have attended, are currently attending, and/or plan to attend until the start of the nursing program. Failure to disclose all attendance will result in an incomplete application.

You must include any high school dual enrollment and any attendance at Towson University. You should only report a degree if it has been completed or will be completed prior to starting the nursing program; otherwise, select “None”. If you have attended a school multiple times, you should list it once and provide dates that include your entire enrollment history.

Prerequisite Checklist

In addition to the RN license and associate degree requirements, admission to the RN-BS degree completion option requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and completion of the three prerequisite courses listed below. Prerequisite courses must be completed with a C (2.0) or higher by the start of the program. Additionally, a basic/introductory statistics course is required to enroll in the required nursing research course at TU. Applicants must provide information about the courses they expect to satisfy these requirements, including courses which are in progress or planned for upcoming terms. Courses listed on the application that do not meet the content or grade requirements will be rejected.

Please note the following guidelines for completing this information:

1) If credit for the lecture and lab portions of a science course were earned separately, you must select “no” to the lab question and provide course details for the lab course too.

2) Courses taken at other institutions must be transferable and equivalent to the required TU course in order to satisfy the nursing major prerequisite. Students should have already verified their transfer course equivalencies via the Transfer Student Center at www.towson.edu/TES.

3) You must provide both the course number and full course title as it appears on the transcript of the school where it was or will be completed. Do not list a course based on how it was transferred by another institution; you must refer to original transcripts for course details.

4) You must enter the correct grade for each course as listed on your original transcript. C- grades are not equivalent to C (2.0). P grades are not accepted for nursing prerequisites.

5) If you received AP credit for a prerequisite, please list “AP Credit” as the course title, identify the school which awarded you the AP credit as the college/university where the course was taken, and enter “AP” as the grade earned.

Notice of Possible Implications of Criminal Convictions
The laws in all states require that persons practicing nursing be licensed as a condition to performing the duties and responsibilities of the occupation. These laws generally permit a licensing board or agency to deny a license or to revoke, or suspend a license or to reprimand a licensee if they are convicted or plead guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or other specified crime. In the event you have a criminal record, the University urges that you timely inquire of the applicable state licensing authority of the effects if any, of your criminal record on eligibility for license before you make your decision to apply for or to accept admission to the University in the Nursing program.

The Nursing program also requires that you successfully complete certain clinical courses. These courses are generally offered at off-campus sites including hospitals or other institutional settings that are not part of the University. These clinical sites may require that you disclose whether you have a criminal record or that you submit to a criminal background investigation, as a condition of your participation in the clinical experience. The University shall have no obligation either to refund your tuition or to otherwise accommodate you in the event your criminal record renders you ineligible to complete required clinical courses.

I acknowledge that I have read the above paragraphs regarding the possible consequences of having a criminal record and that I understand the effects a criminal record may have upon my eligibility to complete the requirements of my major and my eligibility for licensure.
